3M™ 231 Masking Tape is a 7.6 mil crepe paper-backed tape with a rubber adhesive, offered in a 3/4" width by 60-yard length. The narrow profile supports precise paint lines, controlled masking edges, and clean surface protection in industrial and finishing environments.
The rubber adhesive bonds quickly to powder-coated metals, stainless steel, and similar surfaces, resisting solvents and moisture throughout the masking process. Heat resistance up to 300°F for 30 minutes makes this tape suitable for paint baking and curing cycles in automotive, fabrication, and manufacturing finishing operations. It removes cleanly on most surfaces, minimizing adhesive transfer and reducing rework.
